Tier 1 Program

Road to the Top’s flagship Tier 1 program is a competitive development pathway for young American professionals who demonstrate the readiness, horsemanship, discipline, and ambition to progress at major venues with high-level mentorship and structured support. Available to young American athletes that have a USEF or FEI competition record at 1.45m or higher, the program term spans approximately two (2) years, during which athletes are paired with a Road to the Top mentor and work with loaned or donated horses that are matched according to suitability, program agreements, and mentor guidance. Tier 1 athletes are fully committed to pursuing sport at the highest level and can represent Road to the Top as a potential international level competitor.

Road to the Top funds these athletes’ horse care, transport/shipping, and competition fees in addition to veterinary, farrier, and housing expenses. Mentors donate all of their time in training and developing their athletes.

Term: Approximately two (2) years

Planning & Competition: Goals are set for riding, competition, horse management, and professional development during the program. Mentors guide show selection, class progression, course strategy, preparation, recovery, and long-term development.

Reporting & Review: Athletes provide regular communication and updates to program leadership and supporters. Athletes are reviewed by their mentor based on accountability, horsemanship, professionalism and performance growth.

Expected Outcome:

The Tier 1 program is designed to create meaningful opportunity for athletes who have the talent and discipline to develop into future championship-caliber professionals for American show jumping.
